I have often heard from so many people that as they are good to others they get treated badly. Specially some guys who think girls took their advantage in relationship and when it was no more possible they left them. This makes them conclude it is good to be a bad guy. They try avoid showing emotions and have carefree attitude next time. I wonder does this make them peaceful and satisfied with themselves?
I remember one guy with whom a girl broke up, telling us- I was too good to her, I shouldn’t have allowed her to go with colleagues and friends, I gave her too much freedom. It is then when I remembered about the devil on my left shoulder. There are so many stories which tell us about devil and angel both on each of our shoulders, suggesting varied thoughts constantly in our mind. Guy’s statement is the way of devil saying you should have listened to me! Without judging the guy further lets first focus on this devil. I find him very interesting. Devil is this little red guy holding a fork, always trying to pull you towards worst of the worst thoughts. Unlike angel he doesn’t suggest you a thought but mocks your weaknesses influencing you to make bad choices in impulse. Does he get you what you want? No. Sometimes may be yes, but it is always temporary. Can we avoid him? Definitely not.
Devil is not avoidable but can we use him?
Yes, but for that we need to understand why we have both of them on our shoulders. They are two sides of a coin. Let’s not think in the sense of good or bad. Angel is the one who doesn’t want to hurt anybody and wants to see someone else happy even if he has to hurt himself. Devil on other hand doesn’t want to get hurt, wants himself to be happy. Devil will do everything to make himself happy even if it includes hurting somebody. Important thing to note here is we are none, we are humans and capable of being happy and making someone else happy by that at the same time.
Returning to the guy, he was always listening to the angel in the relationship but in that process got hurt too, by behavior of the girl. If he would have listened to the devil, as devil tries to pursue happiness for himself, guy could have communicated to the girl about it or withdrew his interests if she didn’t pay attention to him. Devil could have been used to keep his self-respect.
Devil is always important to keep the balance of mind, to be human. For a human being if you swing to one side of the pendulum that is to the angel eventually you do swing back to the devil and then this just keeps going on and we never have peace. Besides who wants to be an angel?
